Contemplations at our 3-year anniversary

Well, we made it to 3 years! We wanted to share about what makes us different as we put into practice what we value.

As many of you know, we started this studio as a way of exploring different ways of sharing yoga. We envisioned a studio where many of the blockages that people feel when they enter a space, were minimized or taken down. We wanted our teachers to reflect the diversity of our community in numerous ways: age, race, body shape, sexual orientation, and more. We believe that when people see themselves in the teachers, they feel more welcome and safe in the space.

We wanted the classes to not be performance and workout focused, but cultivating a relationship to our body, mind, and spirit. We wanted to have a space where people felt welcome, seen, and celebrated for who they are, as they are.

I think we are making that happen. We certainly have plenty of room for refining and are working on growing our consciousness and the way we share our offerings skillfully. But with open-hearted and loving communication, rooted in the principles of yoga, we are growing. Thank you for being a part of that.

We wanted our financial model to be more accessible to various incomes and needs. That’s why our classes have a pay-what-you-can structure where you pay between $5-$30.. Because it’s a different model, we wanted to let you know where your money goes: 70% of your pass payment goes to the teachers. The other 30% goes to our rent, utilities, facilities upkeep, and the like.

This unique pay-what-you-can financial structure may not be a great business model or a typical capitalist approach- but for us, that's the point. We envision a place where we can offer something to the community that’s not profit focused, but the teachers can get paid well, the rent can get paid, and we can offer yoga to folks with different financial capabilities. And for the most part, it is happening!  We couldn't have done it without you.

And we are excited to keep partnering with you as we nurture and grow and serve this community. We're so grateful for you!
